Equestrian vaulting  is usually described as a combination of dance and gymnastics on horseback. Vaulting is believed to have begun over 2,000 years ago and has been used by various militaries as a training tool. Vaulting has a growing base in the competitive and recreational arenas. It is open to both men and women, and is one of ten equestrian disciplines recognized by the International Federation for Equestrian Sports. International Federation for Equestrian Sports. (Fédération Équestre Internationale or FEI). Therapeutic or interactive vaulting is also used as an activity for children and adults who may have balance, attention, gross motor skill, or social deficits.

Vaulting has a very strong base in Europe but has been steadily growing in the United States since its introduction here as modern sport in the 1950s and 60s. This growth is why we have created the Rocky Mountain Cup. We want to support our developing athletes in their quest to represent Team USA by providing international competitions in the United States.
